New Here? Let's Get to Know Each Other!

Hey friends! I suppose this site is pretty new, but when I had all my content together in one place, I liked to do a getting-to-know-you post at the start of the year and since I'm feeling like I don't have many tricks in my pack, I'm gonna stick with what I know! Leave me a comment and tell me about yourself, too.

Me and David, celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. December 27, 2021

My real name is Ali Cross, and I only recently (September 2021) started publishing under the pen name Ali Archer. I'm 53, and live in northern Utah with my husband David. We've been married thirty years. Thirty years! That's crazy awesome to me, especially since my parents divorced when I was four. (At a time when divorce was still uncommon.) It took us ten years and nine miscarriages before we had our IVF babies, Charlie and Xander. We had two more miscarriages after them, but Charlie and Xander are amazing guys and my heart is full. They're twenty-one and live at home.

Xander and I have ME/CFS plus our own cocktails of additional autoimmune disorders. Life is a little challenging, but we're figuring it out.

Percy (3m), David, Romeo (4y). January 2022

David is a professional hacker, and such a good and kind man. He's always down to help someone improve their skills, or to give them a leg-up professionally. He's currently working two jobs plus starting his own business AND helping Charlie and Xander get a start in cyber security. Have I told you yet how awesome he is?

As for me...I grew up in a very dysfunctional home where there was mental and physical abuse. I'm not sorry for it—it made me who I am today and I kinda love myself, so...

I started out my professional life in the opera world, hoping to one day be a world renowned opera star. But when I got pregnant with the twins, I knew that lifestyle wouldn't work for me. I didn't want to miss a minute of their lives.

I tried photography—and I was good!—but it turned out to be way more time consuming than I wanted. So I looked around and discovered I had a story to tell. So I wrote it!

Turns out that first book was pretty darn terrible, but it got me started, and sometimes that's all you need—a start.

Now, I write just about every day in my beautiful, sun-drenched office that's decorated in all things happy. I love yellow and pink, birds, friends, laughter, silliness, dogs and cats, and working hard. And really, so, so much more. On my Ali Cross site, I try to inspire happiness as a certified life coach, NLPc, and speaker. I write Christian Romance Suspense as Ali Noble. And of course here, as Ali Archer, I write speculative fiction, which means anything fantasy and sci-fi-ish!

Just two weeks ago, we had our precious shorkie, Rocky, put down because he had nasal cancer. Now we have Romeo (4yo) and our newest addition, Percy (3m).

Rock (10y). Fall 2021

I love audiobooks, and I listen to virtually anything. Oh, and I love to crochet! Usually just baby blankets and clothes, but I've been branching out lately. Currently looking for a new project...

Hmm, what else can I tell you? I guess just, thanks for being here. Thanks for visiting, for reading and especially for reading my books. I hope you'll leave a comment, and consider joining my Facebook Group so we can get to know each other. I love making new friends!
